About Resilient Minds Therapy

Amy's Story

Welcome

Hello, and thank you for visiting. My name is Amy, and I'm so glad you're here.

I'm a registered social worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), holding a Master's in Social Work with a major in mental health, along with a range of complementary qualifications that inform my practice. I'm also a Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, with a particular focus on trauma-informed Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). In addition, I am a registered NDIS provider, which means I can work directly with participants across self-managed, plan-managed, and NDIA-managed funding arrangements.

My practice brings together two perspectives that I believe are equally important: the professional and the personal. Over many years working within the disability sector, I've supported individuals, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams across a wide range of circumstances — from early intervention through to complex, long-standing support needs. Alongside this, as a parent to a neurodivergent child, I have a deep, lived understanding of what it actually looks and feels like to navigate services, advocate for a loved one, and hold space for the exhaustion, joy, grief, and growth that often come hand in hand. I don't take that perspective for granted, and it shapes the way I show up in every session.

My Approach

I work in a way that is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and neuroaffirming. That means I start from the belief that behaviour is communication, that every person has inherent worth and capability, and that sustainable change happens through relationship, safety, and understanding — not compliance. My work draws on evidence-based frameworks, including Positive Behaviour Support, trauma-informed care, and contemporary mental health practice, and I tailor each plan to the person in front of me rather than applying a one-size-fits-all template. Families, support networks, and the person themselves are always at the centre of the process.

How I Can Help

I offer support to NDIS participants, families, and carers in areas including behaviour support planning and implementation, mental health social work, capacity building, and advocacy. Whether you're looking for a practitioner to walk alongside you through a difficult season, build a behaviour support plan that genuinely fits your family, or simply have someone in your corner who gets it — I'd love to hear from you.

Let's Connect

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and I want you to know there's no pressure in making contact. I'm happy to have an initial conversation to understand what you're looking for, answer your questions, and work out together whether I'm the right fit. I look forward to hearing your story and exploring how we can work towards positive, meaningful outcomes — together.
